The EdgeXL platform is a network optimization appliance with built-in diverse link routing. Designed as a bandwidth management appliance the EdgeXL can shape bandwidth based on IP address, application type, source / destination, and QoS level, with the option of replacing an existing non-shaping firewall solution.

The EdgeXL platform includes a host of network visibility capabilities, including top application usage, top user reports, most active applications throughout the day, monthly rolled-up statistics, server usage accounting, and much more. With the purpose of these reports to assist the network administrator in improving the end-user experience.

WAN Load Balancing

Using its advanced Vector Routing Algorithm developed by XRoads Networks the EdgeXL platform can intelligently balance traffic both outbound and inbound with the assistance of its ActiveDNS module. The EdgeXL uses the following metrics to calculate session routing:

• WAN utilization
• Per link sessions
• Per link latency
• Per link packet loss
• Administrative weighting
• and more

ActiveDNS is a module which provides instant and automated inbound network load balancing based on client requests from Internet based users. This feature allows the EdgeXL appliance to balance and provide failover for incoming server connections.

Models

Diverse Link Routing

You can increase overall bandwidth by adding a secondary broadband connection. The EdgeXL enables customers to easily and inexpensively increase their bandwidth and network redundancy by connecting a DSL, cable, wireless or other broadband service to the EdgeXL for an immediate burst in throughput. Aggregates up to five WAN links.

P2P / IM Bandwidth Control

Ensure bandwidth resources are being used effectively without the possibility of a small group of users slowing down the network for everyone else. The EdgeXL includes our FlowTraker module which automatically classifies P2P and other application traffic. Once classified this traffic can be prioritized or blocked.

Advanced Enterprise Security

With the built-in ability to replace existing non-traffic shaping firewalls, the EdgeXL platform puts the network administrator in total control of network resources. The EdgeXL appliances delivers all of the functionality found in today's security appliances (deep packet inspection firewall, DDoS protection, web content filtering, intrusion detection system, anti-virus protection, and built-in vulnerability scanning).
