Small to mid-size business networks need the same degree of bandwidth management and reliability as larger enterprises, without the complexity of BGP routing or the expense of multiple pieces of equipment. Now SME networks can obtain the same kind of performance improvements and redundancy with the EdgeXOS Unified Bandwidth Management (UBM) appliances. UBM is the ability to manage network bandwidth through multi-link connectivity, application QoS & rate-shaping, along with network visibility and the ability to extend this management to remote branch offices via our Site2Site VPN optimization.
What makes the EdgeXOS unique is that is has leveraged its multi-link technology in order to deliver a better application QoS & Rate Shaping solution, along with drastically improved site-to-site VPN capability, and enhanced network monitoring and reporting capabilities. (more info on tab below)
Network / Server Load Balancers
Fast, Redundant, and Optimized Internet Connectivity is what XRoads Networks delivers in its Network Load Balancer appliance.
Some questions to ask yourself:
- Is Internet access critical to your organization?
- Does your organization host Internet accessible applications?
- Do your end-users ever complain about slow Internet or application access over the network?
- If your organization has mission critical Internet and/or cloud-based applications then reliable and responsive connectivity is a must.
Benefits
The Network Load Balancer improves network throughput and optimizes the end-user experience through faster and more responsive applications utilizing our applied patent Multi Session Acceleration, Vector Routing and Best Path Routing technologies.
The Network Load Balancer can dramatically lower reoccurring cost by providing for the connectivity of multiple inexpensive broadband links instead of a single large Internet connection. While at the same time ensuring that an organization is not bound to a single provider.
The Network Load Balancer ensures reliable Internet connectivity for both end-users and inbound server systems by automatically monitoring connectivity and re-routing traffic as needed in the event of an Internet link outage. With our ActiveDNS technology the Network Load Balancer is able to failover both outgoing and incoming traffic for full network redundancy.
Real Link Bonding & WAN Acceleration
Most "link load balancing" products on the market simply balance individual sessions between ISP links. Only the EdgeXOS platform with Multi-Session AccelerationT is able to both balance and bond links in order to increase bandwidth and accelerate web traffic. The EdgeXOS platform not only combines the bandwidth of each ISP-link but actually accelerates web downloads. Example: Start with a single 2.5Mbps DSL link, then add a second 2.5Mbps DSL link, the total combined throughput can reach over 10Mbps. That's WAN bonding!
Industry Leading Vector Routing Technology
The EdgeXOS appliance includes fully integrated active routing technology called Vector Routing. Vector Routing includes three unique capabilities, 1) advanced load balancing algorithms for general traffic balancing, 2) policy-based routing for session persistent application routing, and 3) an SLA monitoring, path testing dynamic routing technology called Best Path Routing. With Vector Routing a network administrator can choose how much control they want over specific traffic types, or whether to simply allow the EdgeXOS platform to automatically optimize the traffic, either way Internet access will never be the same.
Instant ISP Failover w/ActiveDNS
A primary reason for most customers to purchase a network load balancer is to ensure that in the event of an ISP outage that their critical network services continue to operate as usual. The EdgeXOS platform includes advanced Deep Path InspectionT which not only tests local gateway connectivity, like most simple "link load balancers", but probes deep in to the Internet to ensure full Internet connectivity. To ensure inbound server connectivity the EdgeXOS platform utilizes our ActiveDNST technology which provides instant inbound URL failover.
Extensive WAN Reporting
Only the EdgeXOS appliance includes this level of built-in network reporting capabilities. With our XFlowT reporting capabilities network administrators can view who the top networks users are, what applications are used the most, and how much bandwidth is being used on each link in real-time. Our unique SLA reporting capabilities can be used to confirm whether your ISP is meeting its commitments and automatically adjust traffic routing in the event that a critical remote site begins to suffer connectivity problems via one of the WAN links by adjusting traffic to route across the more responsive paths.
Unsurpassed 360 Transparent Installation Support
XRoads Networks guarantees the installation of every EdgeXOS appliance, and backs this guarantee with their superior network engineering support. With nearly ten years experience in deploying network load balancing solutions, our engineers can get your deployment up and running in the most transparent method possible. The EdgeXOS appliance is also highly flexible in terms of deployment which ensures that these solutions work in just about any network environment.

Unified Bandwidth Management
Unified Bandwidth ManagementT (UBM) is designed to improve responsiveness and reliability of Internet and cloud-based applications through a combination of network management technologies, including:
Application QoS & Filtering
The ability to accelerate and filter web traffic and prioritize mission critical applications while reportimng on network usage.
Application Delivery Assurance (ISP & Server Load Balancing)
The ability to combine multiple Internet connections to obtain faster network speeds and improved redundancy in the event of an ISP outage.
Network to Network Optimization
The ability to connect multiple offices and optimize those connections for better performance and faster downloads between sites.
UBM combines multiple network management features in to a single all-in-one platform which translates to simpler network management and better overall ROI.
Cloud Optimization Appliances Deliver:
More Speed
Unified bandwidth management delivers an inexpensive bandwidth multiplier. Multiplying bandwidth through several broadband connections which has little impact on the budget but provides a significant impact on performance. Bandwidth reallocation occurs seamlessly and without introducing new protocols or ISP coordination.
More Reliability
Unified bandwidth management adds network redundancy in addition to the increased speed delivered by multiple WAN links. The Edge platform will automatically provide network redundancy between each link so that in the event of a network outage, the remaining active links will ensure continuous WAN connectivity.
More Security
Unified bandwidth management improves application security. Leveraging partnerships with leading network security vendors such as MXLogic, Netsweper, and Webroot XRoads Networks is able to deliver the best of breed in threat protection and email defense in the industry.
As cloud optimization technology has grown XRoads Networks has been a pioneer in the field of multi-link aggregation as a means of optimizing network connectivity. To that end the company has developed a number of technologies and feature-sets focused around our link load balancing capabilities.
MultiLink Vector Routing - This is the technology which allows XRoads Networks to deliver its superior cloud optimization capabilities. With the ability to connect to multiple Internet links, the EdgeXOS platform is perfectly suited to leverage these links to improve cloud-based applications utilizing a number of techniques and applied patent technologies.
